FLGCA
Fairlands in the parish of Worplesdon
is situated just off the A323 between Aldershot and Guildford in
Surrey. The association was formed in the 1950s in order to promote
the benefit of the inhabitants of Fairlands, Liddington Hall,
Gravetts Lane, Holly Lane and the Aldershot Road from Liddington
Hall Drive to Holly Lane. For a full copy of our
objectives please see our constitution. Download
a copy here.
The association is based around the community centre in Fairlands
Avenue, which provides an umbrella for various groups.
The FLG club has a bar and
runs men's’ and ladies’ darts teams. The club is for members
only, but membership is available for people inside and outside the
area of benefit. There is a popular quiz on the third Wednesday of
the month and a regular programme of events.
There is a large Hall as
part of the community centre which can be hired for a very
reasonable fee. There is a kitchen and separate access to the
bar.
Various sections and affiliated clubs are run with
varying degrees of independence, but with the overall objectives
stated in the first paragraph above in common. There are
flourishing art and drama groups and as
well as packs of Brownies and Girl
Guides. There is also a Ramblers group.
There are playing facilities attached
to the community centre and these provide the home for Fairlands
Cricket Club in the summer. Winter football teams also use the
facilities Guildford Park has a team in the Guildford and
Woking Alliance League and plays on Saturdays.
All sections and affiliated clubs are there for the benefit of the community and would welcome new members—follow the links on the contact us page on the navigation on the top left of this page to join these groups.

What does the FLGCA do for the Community?
The FLGCA provides a centre for
community activities, a community hall and keeps the recreation
field in good order. As usual with such associations a small band
of volunteers give up a great deal of their spare time to ensure
smooth running and that faciliities are kept in good order. The
association has also engaged directly with local councils on
matters such as flooding, illegal parking , dog fouling and the
clearing of hedges.
The association operates as a not-for-profit organisation with
charity status, but it needs your support - come down and join the
club, use the facilities and enjoy yourself.
